Biblical Storytelling: Join Us in Learning & Telling Stories with Spirit in 2017
We’ve begun! The response to Jenine sharing the Christmas story by heart was wonderfully positive. We hope to enliven our worship services by having many more Bible stories told (rather than read) in worship this year. The Biblical storytelling group will be meeting to offer resources and support to those who would like to give it a try. No experience necessary! Depending on how many people we have, we hope to tell the gospel stories by heart beginning in February and continuing through Lent. There are some wonderful stories coming up!
Biblical Storytelling Group – Meeting the 3rd Sunday Evening of each month, 7:00–8:30pm (Jan. 15, Feb. 19, Mar. 19, etc.)
What is Biblical Storytelling?
Biblical storytelling is the most authentic way to present scripture. The Bible was originally passed down from generation to generation as oral storytelling. We have gotten away from telling Bible stories and instead simply read them…which necessarily loses much of the dynamic communication. Storytellers “internalize” the scriptures. Exploring the passages in their context for telling helps you to learn to see” the story so that you can share it. The deep insight and connection to the Word that biblical storytelling brings to worship makes all the efforts very worthwhile!
