With the spotlight on social development, three year olds begin to recognize themselves as a part of a peer group and a larger community. Listening to the ideas of others, taking turns, and playing cooperatively are all skills practiced in the safe and supportive environment of our threes classroom.
We foster independence and self-help through loosely structured activities, built around basic themes, which flex and grow with the development of the children. In free play, children choose from a variety of activities—from arts and crafts to dress-up—that encourage small and large motor development. Music, movement, stories, circle time, group clean up, a shared snack, outdoor play, field trips, and units in science and cooking all enrich the three-year-olds’ understanding of the world around them.
